ALTON Assembly Rooms manager Jason Passingham is set to ease into his running shoes again to take part in a charity event.
When the starting gun sounds for the Great South Run in Portsmouth on Sunday, October 25, it will also mark his first charity run since he completing the Brighton Marathon in April.
This time he will be helping to raise money for the mayor of Alton’s chosen charity, Home-Start WeyWater.
It will be the third time that he has run the 10-mile course, passing the historic dockyard, city centre and seafront, but the the first time he has run it for this particular charity.
Mr Passingham said: “I ran the Brighton Marathon back in April in aid of the mayor of Alton’s charity, which was Mind, so I thought it would be nice to do a run of some kind again for the current mayor and help raise much-needed funds for such a worthy cause.
“Home-Start may not be well known to everyone, but the work they do cannot go unnoticed and deserves our support. They help families with young children deal with whatever life throws at them, which not only makes a huge difference to the parents but also the important years in a child’s development, which may affect their outlook on life in the years to come.”
Alton mayor Pam Jones said: “I am thrilled that Jason has offered to run for my chosen charity, and hope that people will get behind him by sponsoring him.”
Anyone who would like to support Mr Passingham can place donations in a collection box located at Alton Assembly Rooms.
