A MAN was left with a broken jaw last weekend after being attacked by two men following a night out in Petersfield.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the unprovoked attack on Station Road during the early hours last Saturday.

The 34-year-old man was walking home when he was assaulted from behind by two men wearing dark hoodies.

The incident took place between 1am and 1.50am opposite the White Rose Garage and left the victim needing hospital treatment.

The suspects are described as white men in their 20s who were 6ft to 6ft 4ins tall and of slim to average build.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Tony Flannagan, from Alton CID, said he would like to hear from anyone with information about the attack.

He said: "This was a nasty attack which resulted in the victim requiring surgery for his injuries. I'd particularly like to speak to a man who was seen walking in the same area shortly before the assault as he may have some relevant information."
