FOLLOWING his sell-out success as sweet transvestite Frank N Furter in The Rocky Horror Show last year, Jonathan Wilkes is back in Woking this September and once again he's got those high heels on.

"It's going to be great coming back to Woking, when we were here last time, the audiences were fantastic," he said

"It's a unique show and I think that's a big reason people keep coming back.

"There's no other musical where people can get really dressed up. It's two hours where you don't have to sit quietly in your seat, you can have a laugh and really let yourself go for the night!

"The good thing about The Rocky Horror Show is that each performance is different. I don't think I could ever get bored with playing Frank. When I rip off that cloak and reveal myself for the first time, I just love looking at people's faces!

"We do get some wild audiences. In Manchester, we had some nights where it was like a jungle. I was probably the only 6ft 7inch scared transvestite. We had a row of 10 security lads, but I still feared for my life."

Jonathan first stepped into the famous high heels back in September 2002 for the show's 30th anniversary UK tour.

It was a sell-out and ended with a run in the West End. Due to popular demand, he's agreed to do an 11-week reprise.

"It is tough when you're on the road though, I do miss my fiancée, Nikki.

"It's especially hard because we're both in the industry but we try to see each other as much as possible.

"Nikki's a dancer and we met about four years ago, it really was love at first sight. We've got plans to get married next year, it's just a matter of getting the time for both of us to do it."

Jonathan's career is certainly taking off. Since winning the Cameron Mackintosh Young Entertainer of the Year, he's appeared in the hit musical Godspell, presented SM:TV Live, and he's just become the new presenter of You've Been Framed.

"It's hard work because you're literally doing 26 shows in two weeks with You've Been Framed, but the producers have really let me play to my strengths. It's still a classic show but in the new series I'm singing, doing sketches and comedy bits.

"The funny thing is I do actually have a Rocky Horror clip that would qualify for You've Been Framed.

"I was in Bromley filming an advert to promote the tour and I had to go down a staircase singing. Well, I started walking in my heels and I absolutely stacked it. I just got up laughing but the director nearly had kittens. For the first few weeks on stage after that, I'd giggle to myself thinking about it. Thankfully, I've got used to wearing the heels now though."

All this and he's only just turned 25. He celebrated his birthday earlier this month with his best mate Robbie Williams at Knebworth.

"Rob got me on stage on the Friday and having 125,000 people singing happy birthday was absolutely incredible.

"I am a private person though. I keep my private life to myself and I think that's important, not just for myself but for all the people around me, like Nikki, my family and my friends."

He's also filmed a special Celebrity Stars in Their Eyes.

"I've just recorded it. I can't say who I was, but you'll have a chuckle when you see it. It was nerve-racking but one of the funniest days I've had in a long time. It'll be on before Christmas but I can't give any clues away or I'll be in trouble.

"After Rocky, I'm doing a five-week run in Manchester with Grease.

"Then it might be time to look at doing something new. Film work would be great, but I've had a few offers for some dramas, too. I'm just enjoying myself at the moment - I'm really happy with where I am right now."
