JONNY Wilkinson will be out of action for several weeks after the brutal treatment he received during England's 53-3 defeat of South Africa at Twickenham on Saturday.

The Newcastle fly-half, and former Farnham RFC junior, suffered serious tissue damage in his shoulder after being clearly targeted by the Springboks and had to retire injured after 44 minutes.

Jason Robinson, left with a perforated ear-drum, was another victim as the visitors adopted a violent approach that drew widespread condemnation.

Jannes Labuschagne, the South African lock sent off for his blatantly late tackle on Wilkinson, has been banned for 23 days.
