TRELOAR College has welcomed aboard Paralympic Gold medallist Dan Bentley, who will join the its team for the first ever Parallel London push/run.
This new event is the first fully inclusive and accessible push/run for disabled and non-disabled entrants, who can run, walk, wheel, push or be pushed over 100m, 1km, 5km or 10km.
It will take place at East London’s Queen Elizabeth on Sunday, September 4, this is the first event of its kind and Treloar’s is proud to support it.
A college spokesperson said: “We have places available to anyone who would like to take part and make history and who can also help raise vital funds for the young people at Treloar’s.”
Dan Bentley will be taking part over the 5k distance. He was a Treloar’s student at from the age of six and got involved in the sport of Boccia (a game similar to bowls) while there. His proudest moment was winning the gold medal in Beijing in 2008 and a bronze medal as part of Team GB BC1-BC2 mixed team event with former Treloar’s student David Smith.
“I went to Treloar for four years and this is where my Boccia career started, and it ended up with me winning two Paralympic medals. I don’t forget where I started my Boccia career. Treloar is a very good school and college for people with disabilities to have great ambitions and with Treloar’s help this can be achieved.”us.”
