GRAYSHOTT Panto has announced that actress Anna Carteret – best known for her role as police inspector Kate Longton in the BBC’s long-running 1980s TV series Juliet Bravo – has agreed to become patron of the group.

“It is fantastic to have somebody like Anna to figurehead our efforts,” a group spokesman said this week.

Meanwhile, things are certainly afoot down at the church rooms at St Luke’s Church, as the group is rehearsing hard for this year’s pantomime, Snow White, which arrives at the village hall tonight and tomorrow.

Written by Diana Lovelock and directed by Jo Edser, Grayshott Panto will tell the traditional tale using an original script by Diana.

It promises to be a fun-filled performance of great songs both old and new, coupled with a “community song” for everyone to join in with. It is a local show performed by local people and some very familiar faces will appear on stage in various guises.

The Reverend Moray Thomas, joined by his new colleague Reverend Jeremy Haswell, will tread the boards, businessmen and women, leaders of village groups, members of the youth group, pupils and ex-pupils of the village primary school – along with many other people from the local community – will appear on stage and behind the scenes.

Refreshments are supplied by PK Preschool and there will also be a raffle at every show.

It is the third year ticket prices will have been held at £7 for adults and £4 for children.

Performances are at 7.30pm tonight and 2pm and 5.30pm tomorrow.

Tickets are available from Trusted PC Man, Warren Powell Richards, both in Grayshott, or from the box office via 01428 717784.
