HOLLYCOMBE Steam in the country enjoyed a busy weekend last month with 50 different fairground organs and modellers attending the vintage fairground event and railway attraction.

Visitors enjoyed picnics in Hollycombe’s Woodland Gardens while the sounds of fairground organs filled the air.

One of these belongs to Terry Pankhurst, who has been coming to Hollycombe for a number of years with his 80 pipe midi-controlled Tipsy Organ, while John Taylor, from Hailsham, in West Sussex brought his model Arc Ride with swing boats and transport to display.

Hollycombe Steam trustee Brian Gooding was delighted with the turnout:

‘We were very pleased with crowd numbers over the weekend – considering we were up against the Wimbledon Finals, the British Grand Prix and the Test match.”

Exhibitors had a good time and many will be returning for Hollycombe’s Model Weekend to be staged on Saturday, September 2 and Sunday, September 3.

Hollycombe is enjoying its extended summer holiday opening period until Bank Holiday Monday, August 28, with the attraction open from Tuesday to Sunday every week during the schoolholidays.

It is situated at Iron Hill, Liphook, and is signposted from the A3.
