A FORMER runner from Haslemere is keeping up his amazing support for a special charity close to his heart.

Running in the Munich Marathon last month, Liam Humphrey, 34, took on his first marathon in aid of the Haslemere-based charity the Melanie Braysher Trust, which provides mobility equipment across Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire to disabled children and young people, to help them become more independent.

Liam who suffers from asthma completed the challenging run in just over four hours, 15 minutes less than his original target.

Just two weeks later, he was taking part in the 10-mile Great South Run in Portsmouth which he completed in less than 90 minutes.

Liam, who now lives in Littlehampton, West Sussex, was born in Haslemere and took up running in 2011. In 2014 he was keen to do something for his old home town and chose to run for the locally based charity.

“Congratulations Liam and many thanks from the Melanie Braysher Trust we are very proud to have you wearing the T-Shirt,” said a spokesman for the charity.
