THIS summer, directors at Kelly’s Storage set a company-wide goal for staff to set themselves a challenge and raise money for their own chosen charities.
All money raised was matched by the company, plus an additional £2,000 donation to two of the chairman’s chosen charities. Fourteen charities benefited from a total of almost £13,650 between them.
Kayaking from Godalming to Guildford, giving Morris dancing lessons and selling handmade Christmas cards and handpainted glasses were just some of the activities undertaken.
Charities included Royal Surrey County Hospital’s Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Service (TYAC), given £2,180, Challengers, which received £2,700, Great Ormond Street Hospital, with £1,154, and The Dash Charity, given £1,300.
The company’s charity wing, Kelly’s Storage Charity Events, pays for and organises sporting events, with every penny raised going to local charities.
Moira Martin, director, said: “Thanks to this amazing effort from our staff this summer, Kelly’s Storage Charity Events has now reached it’ s target for this year which was to have raised over half a million pounds for charity since we organised our first Riverside Run for Challengers, back in 2010.”
This year’s annual run is on October 14. Visit tinyurl.com/yd3nmpky for more.
