THE town improvement manager's job in Whitehill is again under threat – after the town council exhausted its grant cash.

The Whitehill-Bordon Town Partnership had asked for an £18,000 grant to continue to employ manager Gerry Thorne for another year so that he can supervise the Soapbox Derby, the Christmas festival, and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Last year, the council dipped into its general reserves to pay Mr Thorne's wages until April this year, after East Hampshire District Council withdrew its funding for him.
