FURTHER problems at the troubled King Edward VII Hospital came last week when its chief executive handed in her resignation.

Lin Way has held the position of chief executive at the 152-bed, independent hospital since 1999.

Shay Bannon of the provisional liquidators for the hospital, BDO Stoy Hayward, thanked Mrs Way and her team "for all their efforts to find the solution to the problems faced by the hospital".

Brian Atkins, was appointed immediately after Mrs Way's resignation last Monday. Mr Atkins said that he was looking forward to working with his new colleagues, the NHS, health insurers and the local community. "It is a great privilege to be now working with such a dedicated group of people in KE VII who have experienced such uncertainty in recent times. Despite their difficulties the standards of care, clinical excellence and friendliness shown to their patients have not been allowed to suffer."

Minor alterations were made to the application submitted to CDC by the consortium.

A spokesman for the property developers, Jim Biek, said the number of housing units had not changed but the new housing would be built further to the north of the development.
