WAVERLEY Borough Council leader Robert Knowles, says he has "severe concerns" over plans for drilling for shale gas at Fernhurst.

The Tory borough councillor for Haslemere East and Grayswood is worried about the prospect of up to 50 heavy lorries a day using the A286 – which runs through the town to Fernhurst – during construction, and the requirement for large amounts of fresh water used in the controversial "fracking" process.
