THE drive is on to encourage the last few entries for the East Hampshire Access to Service Awards 2008. The scheme recognises the efforts of local business, public and voluntary organisations in providing accessible services and products to the people who live and work in East Hampshire. "Building on the success of last year's event, we have received 23 nominations for the Access to Service Awards 2008", said co-ordinator Iain Speed. "This is fantastic – we have received more entries which means it is making a positive impact on the district". Mr Speed has also praised the involvement of local organisations in getting the scheme off the ground, commenting: "Without partnership working, the project wouldn't be where it is today. We are lucky to have the involvement of the South Downs Association for Disabled People, Community First East Hampshire, East Hampshire District Council, and our generous sponsors Grayshott Pottery, who are continuing to manufacture the awards". The Access to Service Awards will be presented at a special evening event at the Alton Maltings Centre on April 10. Information about the award categories and how to enter are available from Iain Speed, managing director, All Inclusive Disability Consultants, Upper Flat, Kingsley Centre, Main Road, Kingsley, Bordon, GU35 9ND.
