CHARITABLE organisations in the south have until Monday to apply for a Sport Relief Community Cash grant of between £500 and £1,000.

UK charity Comic Relief is offering a fund of £70,000 for small groups doing great work to help people living incredibly tough lives.

Organisations still have the chance to apply by going to their local Community Foundation website before the closing date on February 15.

Applications are open now, with the local Community Foundations working with Comic Relief to get the cash to the groups that need it most.

Interested groups can apply by going to their local Community Foundation website - for Surrey surreycommunityfoundation.org.uk or hantscf.org.uk in Hampshire.

Once again, the public is being encouraged to take part in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games, which will take place from Friday, March 18, to Sunday, March 20.

This includes the Waverley Sport Relief Mile on Sunday, March 20, at Frensham Common.
