FARNHAM baker Laura Dodimead fought off some fierce competition after she was declared winner of the best Christmas cake decorator competition – with her many faces of Santa entitled ‘The Christmas factor’.
Every year TV personality Kirsty Allsop - best known for co-presenting property show Location, Location, Location with Phil Spencer - hosts ‘Kirsty’s Homemade Christmas’ asking baking enthusiasts to get involved and put their skills to the test.
Laura Dodimead, said: “I applied last year but wasn’t successful in getting throug. But this year I got through the day I entered.
“I love all of Kirsty’s shows and I’m a big fan of everything crafty, so the two combined was exciting for me – I wanted to be involved in such a fun show.
“I entered as it was something fun and different, I’m not competitive so it wasn’t about winning. I didn’t think I would win as I never win anything.
“We all had a dummy cake to demonstrate and we only had four-and-a-half hours to complete our designs.
“I wanted people to be be inspired by my cake and I also wanted to make people laugh. I had many versions of Santa on my cake, short, tall, fat and even Rudolf dressed as Santa with a penguin judge.”
