THE plan had been to have £250,000 of luxury bus shelters in a line along Bordon's A325 to highlight its eco-town status, but now Whitehill Town Council has agreed to split the money - so that half can go to fund an extra year of running a new bus service.
It will mean the town council may have to settle for "off-the-shelf" bus shelters, instead of the living, grass-roofed, solar-panelled rain-recycling, bespoke ones members had wanted.
The difference is that the luxury shelters cost around £30,000 each, and take several months to install, whereas the ones ordered out of a catalogue cost around £10,000.
