POLICE are appealing for help to prevent further thefts of lead after the Adult Education Centre in West Street was targeted twice last week.

Last Thursday night, thieves climbed onto the roof and stripped it of £20,000 of lead, using wheeled bins found nearby to take it away.

Two days earlier, a third-floor window was smashed in an attempt to access the roof and made off with £200 of lead.
