‘IMAGES of Sunlight’ is the inviting title of a summer lecture presented by the Farnham Public Art Trust on Wednesday, July 6.

Given by the art history lecturer and painter Daphne Jefferis, the talk will address the works of Impressionist painters including Monet, Renoir, Pissarro, Sisley and Berthe Morisot.

These are paintings which glow with colour and light and which celebrate the life and times of late 19th century Paris, and Daphne Jefferis will explain how science helped the artists with a new understanding of colour, and how industry enabled them to work “en plein air”.

The talk on Wednesday, July 6, will be at the St Joan’s Centre, Tilford Road, Farnham GU9 8DJ. It will start at 8pm, and doors open at 7.30pm for drinks, nibbles and conversation.

Entry is £6 per person (students £2) payable at the door. For more information ring 01252 702449, or visit www.farnhampublicart
