UNIVERSITY of Winchester journalism lecturer Jon Robins has been named as the Bar Council’s print journalist of 2015 for two articles he researched and wrote for a national newspaper.
A second-time winner of this prestigious award, Jon is founder and editor of The Justice Gap, an online magazine which highlights potential miscarriages of justice and the lack of adequate compensation for victims of these miscarriages.
It’s become one of the UK’s leading forums for discussions surrounding social justice.
As a part-time journalism lecturer at the University of Winchester, Jon encourages his students to get involved with The Justice Gap. Students have the opportunity to act as reporters, video journalists, researchers and producers.
Senior lecturer Brian Thornton, who co-founded the Crime and Justice Research Centre at the University, also works closely with Jon and The Justice Gap team on issues related to miscarriages of justice as commissioning editor.
