ALTON Community Association chairman Pat Lerew is to receive the Alton Society award for outstanding services to the town.
A volunteer across a number of fields for many years, Mrs Lerew will receive the award during the Alton Society’s annual meeting at The Swan Hotel on November 14.
On the night, the Society will also present the prestigious John Ambrose Award (named in honour of the first chairman of the Society) to a project relating, for example, to a building which has enhanced the visual quality of the Alton area.
Held at a particularly important time for Alton, as the town faces the challenge of change, the annual meeting will provide an opportunity to influence the future through electing officers and having your say.
Also on the agenda will be a presentation by Melissa Maynard, the former East Hampshire district councillor responsible for the energy and environment, entitled ‘In Pursuit of Sustainability’.
Chairman Bob Booker said: “This has again been an incredibly busy year for the Alton Society as the town works hard to develop its neighbourhood plan. Come and meet us as we are all working together for Alton.”
