FARNHAM Maltings will present its 12th annual Christmas fair on Wednesday and Thursday next week (November 30 to December 1) and this year, it promises to be the biggest and best to date.

With two days of festive fun and more than 150 stalls, the event is now Surrey’s biggest Christmas fair and will be full of festive charm, featuring stalls specialising in bespoke gifts, handmade crafts, vintage finds, a food emporium and lots of drop in craft workshops to help visitors make lots of unique Christmas gifts.

The fair opens on Wednesday, November 30, with the chance for visitors to enjoy late-night shopping as it runs until 9.30pm, allowing visitors to come after work and school, making it accessible for all ages.

Festivities continue on Thursday, December 1, with an earlier start at 10am for some quieter morning and early afternoon shopping opportunities.

Illustrator and children’s author Lisa Stickley will be at the fair on Thursday offering to sign copies of her new book, Handstand, as well as running special illustration workshops for children.

Each day the building will be filled with festive music from various choirs and other musical acts performing in the foyer. These include the ukulele performers from the lessons held in the Maltings as well as the Rock Choir.

Also this year Farnham Maltings introduces the Christmas Reindeer Hunt. Father Christmas has unfortunately lost all of his reindeer at the fair and can’t deliver his presents until he’s found them all. Help him track down all of his reindeer to claim a prize.

There will also be a variety of craft-making activities which, while aimed at those aged 10 and above, have no skill requirement so everyone can join in and make their own Christmas decorations.

The Christmas fair opens a full month-long season of festive events and workshops at Farnham Maltings. Pick up the guide to the season, Christmas at the Maltings, from the Maltings’ box office or from one of Farnham Maltings’ distribution spots around town.
