WELCOME to the first Herald in the reader-friendly format you asked for!
Overwhelmingly, you wanted to switch from the old broadsheet to make catching up on all the local news and sport far easier.
And we hope we have delivered. As you flick through the pages, you’ll notice a few extra features.
We still have pages and pages of local stories and pictures, the most comprehensive round-up of news you’ll find anywhere.
Chris Shepheard now has two pages for his popular Peeps from the Past, and we give local business the prominence it deserves with two pages a week from now on.
We have three pages of letters, four pages of the ever-popular news from clubs and societies, and two pages of pictures from the Farnham Festival which attracts people from across the Herald area. Each week, the cameras will capture a local event.
Then comes one of our most exciting changes – our new Living supplement. This is packed with people, with advice, with leisure activities, with puzzles, with fun...
This week we have the first of weekly local walks; we have employment advice with James Innes, who is known nationally – and internationally – as the Jobs Guru and who is moving to Farnham later this year; we have ways of getting into shape, nature, legal help, showbiz, health, law and order, arts and entertainment – and loads more. Turn to Living and see for yourself!
We have even more in the pipeline, including advice on training your dog and financial advice from an expert who is used to saving people money!
We still have a page of church services and planning applications, two pages of new puzzles, a new Eating Out feature, taking a closer look at one of our local establishments, and pages and pages from the local property market.
And we finish with sport – unless you’re one of those readers who start the paper from the back, in which case we start with sport!
But we don’t believe we’ve got everything right first time. So please get in touch if there’s something we’re not covering which we should be, or if you think we can do something better.
And get in touch if you like the new format, too! You can email me at [email protected].
Enjoy the new Herald!
