Do you have days when all seems sad, difficult or hopeless?
There are other days, perhaps, when all seems well, optimistic and the sun shines, like it did so gloriously during the middle of last week. What we now call Easter time was the same for Jesus’ disciples.
Palm Sunday had been a time of cheerful rejoicing as Jesus rode into Jerusalem followed by a difficult time.
Everything that Jesus said and did was criticised by the ‘powers that be’ in the city and ultimately led to Jesus' death on the Cross.
A truly desperate time, when the disciples felt alone and abandoned, was suddenly lifted by His appearance to various people in different places.
Jesus’ message to those who had felt disillusioned was to carry his message of God’s ‘Love and Care’ for all people to those they met in the towns and cities where they lived.
Looking back we can read of various people who took his message first to those living in Israel, then further afield to places in what we now call the Middle East and subsequently all around the globe.
So what can we do when we feel downcast or sad?
The first thing you can do is accept that God loves you wherever and whatever you are today. When you have that assurance, step two is to share it with someone you meet or just talk to.
You can show God’s love in simple ways by for example listening to people who need to talk, helping someone with their shopping or a lift to an appointment or making a telephone call.
You may receive no formal acknowledgement of what that deed has meant to them but a helping hand at a difficult time may be just what that person needed.
Sharing God’s love with one other people is what we are asked to do, so, however you feel today, try sharing a little love with another contributing to the general goodwill around you, the town, the country and the world.
