VILLAGERS and businesses in Sheet have made their thoughts known loud and clear on Network Rail's plans to close the level crossing at School Lane – and they have warned that the fight is not over.

A referendum saw a whopping 525 people vote on the plans, which was a 73.9 per cent overall turnout for the village.

After the vote closed on July 3, 356 people said they preferred the road to stay open with full barriers installed as opposed to 169 votes to close the crossing to vehicles and install a pedestrian crossing instead.
