ONE year on from the formation of the Coalition Government, Alton is reeling from the shock of its impact at local level.

The local elections on May 5 left no doubt – with an emphatic 'no' in the AV referendum, a higher than normal turnout (50 per cent average) triggered a Tory landslide, with the Liberal Democrats almost annihilated.
