CHILDREN at Bordon's Cygnets Day Nursery stocked up on new books on Tuesday, thanks to a visit from a travelling library.
The library van, which is managed by Hampshire County Council, stops at the nursery in the High Street every fortnight.
Deputy manager of the nursery Carly Shehan said: "The library van comes every two weeks and the children are always really excited about it. They really appreciate the chance to get new books, find new stories for story time and take their old books back.
"Not only is it good fun for them, but each visit really helps to extend their learning and can help them to find out more about their current topic.
"It also helps to teach them the value of things. The children have to look after their books, bring them back to the nursery and look after the tickets they've got.
"We are very lucky to have a visiting library.
"We do enjoy trips out to Bordon Library, but we find that the mobile library service is far more accessible.
"When we go out for walks to the library at the shopping centre, we have to think about the staff-to-children ratio and it takes a lot more time, so it's really nice to have such great access to a wide range of books on our doorstep. We can enjoy all the benefits of visiting a library, but in a really safe environment. It's a free service, but is valuable to us.
The mobile library service provides access to library books for small communities that do not have a branch library.
