AMERY Hill School in Alton has been judged a ‘good’ place to learn by Ofsted inspectors who visited the school in February.

According to headteacher Elizabeth Wylie, the two inspectors “really did capture the essence of our school” during their visit.

“They were both experienced headteachers and, as such, were clear about the strengths of our school,” she said.

Mrs Wylie firmly believes their summary captures Amery Hill’s distinctive ethos – one where all students are provided with “high quality and challenging education ... regardless of their ability or circumstances”.

According to Mrs Wylie, the inspectors “could see that students are stretched and challenged, enabling them to be successful”. The inspectors were able to confirm verbally that areas of the school were “outstanding” and they commented on the “caring and stimulating culture [which] encourages all pupils to do their best”.

Mrs Wylie added: “It is a great reflection on our hard work and I am pleased for our students, staff, parents and governors who all contribute to make our school such a flourishing environment. With this up-to-date endorsement from Ofsted, we will continue to provide every student with an education for life.”

Amery Hill School’s open event takes place from on June 20, from 6pm-9pm. Call 01420 84545 or e-mail [email protected].
