LION Lane residents are still waiting for the implementation of traffic calming measures which were promised following the opening of the Tesco supermarket in Haslemere two months ago.

The design and implementation of the scheme will be paid for by Tesco as part of a highway works agreement, with the work to be carried out by Surrey County Council.

Waverley district engineer for SCC Graham Hodgson, said the county council was still awaiting clarification about the limitations and use of the money set aside by Tesco, but that it was keen to move the scheme forward "as soon as possible".
