THE Lions Club of Farnham held its annual Charter Dinner in June, this year being it’s 50th.
The dinner was attended by members of the Farnham Lions and their partners along with members from other Lions clubs including Guildford, Cranleigh, and Caterham, Oxted, Godstone (COGS) and by other guests including 105SE (South East England) district governor Jackie Robinson and past council chairman Phil Robinson from Thanet Lions, as well as PCC Chris Iles from Gillingham Lions.
The event, hosted by Andrew Lodge, marked the end of Andrew’s year as president of Farnham Lions, a year during which so much was achieved by the club including raising more than £100,000 to support good causes within our community.
District governor Jackie Robinson surprised all by making a special presentation to Andrew and the club, on behalf of the patron of Lions in the UK, The Countess of Wessex GCVO, of a certificate recognising the 50 years of service that the Farnham Lions have contributed to the community.
Farnham Lions member Keith Harris (pictured right, with Andrew Lodge and Jackie Robinson) was presented with the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellowship Award as recognition for his many and outstanding contributions to the Lions Club of Farnham - the most recent of which was last year’s ‘Summer Spectacular’, which raised more than £40,000 to support four local charities.
