FARNHAM Lions has shared more than £40,000 between the four beneficiaries of its Summer Spectacular 50th anniversary celebration earlier this summer; Challengers, 40 Degreez, Frensham Pond Sailability and the Ridgeway School.
On Monday, at the offices of the Tindle Newspaper Group, Andrew Lodge, president of the Lions club of Farnham supported by other Lion members, presented a cheque for £40,159.36 to representatives of the four youth charities.
Mr Lodge thanked each of the beneficiaries and his fellow Lions and sponsors for helping to make the Spectacular such a success.
He said: “When we started planning this event 18 months ago we hoped that we would raise around £25,000. We are all delighted to have raised so much.”
Attending Monday’s cheque presentation were: Laura Sercombe and Duncan Wilbur representing Challengers; Janet Maines, Mike Ellis and Simon Jamison from 40 Degrees; Tony Machen and Ivor Barrett of Frensham Pond Sailability; and The Ridgeway School’s Darryl Morgan and Yasmine Prichard; alongside Farnham Lions’ Andrew Lodge, Geoff Jeal, Keith Harris, Phil Williams, Sally Ross, Barry Coleman and George Freeman.
