ALTON Lions visited Sainsbury’s to collect four trolley loads of Christmas food and gifts donated by its customers.

The gifts will be used by Alton Lions to help brighten up the lives of families and individuals in need or living on their own in Alton and the surrounding villages over the Christmas period.

Any excess food has been given to Alton Food Bank and to the Great Alton Project churches Christmas Day lunch, to be hosted once again this year at St Lawrence Church Hall, for folk who would otherwise spend the day alone.

The Lions Club of Alton thanked Sainsbury’s management for carrying out the collection on December 8 and to the store’s customers for their support.
