LIPHOOK station has been picked as the most improved station out of the 176 in the South West Trains region.
And staff have been presented with an award which manager Iden Adams says is down to the huge steps forward that have been made in customer services.
Lifelong resident of Liphook Mr Adams says the station has improved to cope with the growth of the village in recent years.
ÒLiphook is developing and getting bigger all the time. That shows in how busy this station gets at times.
ÒOne of the most pleasing things is the extremely good feedback we are getting from customers at the moment.Ó
The judging panel for the station pride award was made up of the chairman of the rail passengersÕ committee, Wendy Toms, Peter Noble representing the London Transport UsersÕ committee, South West Trains retail director James Burt and Supt Colum Price of the British Transport Police.
The staff received £50 Marks and Spencer vouchers and a cheque for £1,000 was presented to Mr Adams, to spend on equipment that will benefit passengers and staff.
South West Trains managing director Andrew Haines said the judges were most impressed with the service provided for customers.
He said: ÒI am delighted to present staff at Liphook with the award for Most Improved Station.
ÒThe judges were impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of staff at this busy rural station, along with the range of local information on offer and the general cleanliness of the facilities.Ó
