The Strollers Group – one of 40 or so groups under the umbrella of the Liphook U3A – had a stroll round Petersfield heath and pond in glorious sunshine.

We learned a little of the history of early settlers on the heath and watched the large numbers of birds on the water as we chatted our way round the two-mile circuit.

As always lunch was taken at a local pub, and this time it was the Half Moon at Sheet where we enjoyed good food and more chat.

We’re always happy to include new members and more information on this or any other query about Liphook U3A can be gained from [email protected].

The Liphook Churches and Pubs Group is exactly what the name would lead you to expect. The group meet monthly and car share to a designated church where a wealth of history and art can be revealed.

On this occasion it was the church at Tichborne near Winchester in the Itchen Valley. These often hidden gems have offered a wealth of interest over the years that the group have been running.

The church visit is followed by lunch at a local hostelry and, as luck would have it, in British villages the church and pub are very often close to each other.

As with all our U3A groups, new members are welcome and details can be found from [email protected]
