MORE than 600 cyclists got into gear for the 11th annual Little Lumpy and they raised more than £11,000 for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care and Haslemere Festival.

The event was also one of the many highlights of this year’s Haslemere Festival.

Little Lumpy organiser ‘community’ Ken Griffiths has now presented cheques to both charities.

Mr Griffiths said: “Thanks to all our amazing riders and volunteers. See you in 2020.”

The circular ride from Woolmer Hill sports ground, saw cyclists choose from 40, 60 or 100 mile routes to South Harting, where the two longer routes branched off over some testing hill climbs to Finchdean.

Riders also enjoyed home-baked cakes at the feeding stations along the course, courtesy of a dedicated group of volunteers, whose baking skills have become legendary at Little Lumpy events.

Charli Quay-Barnham, community fundraising manager at Phyllis Tuckwell, said: “We were delighted to once again have been chosen as the charity partner for this year’s Little Lumpy.”
