RESIDENTS of Frensham and The Bourne were celebrating this week after an appeal to erect a mobile phone mast on a wooded plateau at Gong Hill Drive was dismissed.

Objections to the proposed 30-metre mast, six antennae and three microwave dishes came from a number of councils and conservation groups and, earlier this month, government inspector D A Harmston said the impact on the surrounding area would be so great that the development could not be allowed.
