YEAR three pupils at Waverley Abbey School, spent a morning learning about the invasion of the Roman army and how it affected the Celts through hands-on artefacts, dressing up and role play, after a visit from Legion XIIII.
As the day went on the children were put through their paces in a number of training drills before eventually becoming soldiers of the Roman army.
The day concluded with a demonstration of Roman weapons outside on the school field. It was described as a thoroughly enjoyable and informative day for all involved.
