YEAR three pupils at Waverley Abbey School cast their minds back through time to ancient Roman Britannia, as they delved deep into the invasion of the Roman army and how it affected the Celts.

However, instead of simply learning about Roman history, pupils acted it out through role play – with authentic garments to really bring history to life.

The annual event is a popular one at Waverley Abbey, and it continues to grow year by year.

Last year’s Roman-inspired event saw pupils get put through their paces in a number of training drills before eventually becoming soldiers of the Roman army - the memborable day was polished off with a demonstration of Roman weapons outside on the school field.

As this year’s event came to a close pupils prepared themselves for a tougher challenge – taking on the 21st century.
