West Country-based café-bar group Loungers opened the Antico Lounge in Alton High Street on August 13 as the 300th site in its group of Lounges, Cosy Clubs and Brightsides.

Loungers has transformed the former M&Co store. Heavily patterned wallpaper, tiling and stripped wooden floors now feature alongside oversized vintage sofas, upholstered lounge chairs, eclectic artwork and statement wall and pendant lighting.

John English, head of community at Loungers, said: “We’re delighted to be open in lovely Alton!

“Our Lounges strive to put community at the heart of hospitality and our teams always go the extra mile to make a difference.

“They are actively encouraged to connect with their communities by working with local groups, charities, organisations and businesses that are at the heart of the fabric of local life.

“We are very much looking forward to welcoming local residents to Antico Lounge.”

Antico Lounge will donate 50p from every burger and 20p from each coffee sold in its first month of trading to Dementia Friends.

The all-day menu features breakfast, tapas, salads, burgers and buttermilk fried chicken. There are also vegan and gluten-free menus.

There are games, books, colouring pencils, pads and a full menu for children, plus high chairs and baby-changing facilities.
