Hilary Bird caught up with the Eagle's Fugitive at The Little Green Dragon Bookshop in Normandy Street, after deducing his whereabouts from clues broadcast by the radio station.
The basis of the competition is that after listeners work out The Fugitive's location from the clues, they must go up and ask him if he is indeed The Fugitive.
Mrs Bird said: "I was on my way home from dropping my son off at South Farnham School when I heard the clue on the radio at about 8-40 am. The clue was, 'A small, ill myth'. I worked out that it must be something along the lines of little green dragon, so I went home and looked in the phone book, and sure enough, the Alton bookshop was the only thing in the book called The Little Green Dragon".
Mrs Bird drove directly to Alton and found the shop. Another girl was already there, obviously for the same reason. Mrs Bird saw a man matching The Fugitive's description.
She approached him and asked him if he was the Eagle's Fugitive, to which he replied no. Mrs Bird asked him if he was sure, and he said he did not know what she was talking about.
"He walked off, and I stood there talking to the other girl for a minute, then the man came up to me, handed me an envelope and ran away. It said I had won £4,000 and I went straight to the studios in Guildford to collect the cheque.
"I am going to enjoy the money; I'm definitely not going to do anything sensible with it.
"I was gobsmacked when he handed me the envelope, absolutely flabbergasted. You don't think its going to be you. The catchphrase of the competition is that If you don't ask, you can't win, and they were right. I just feel sorry for the other girl".
