PASSENGERS travelling on the Mid Hants Watercress Line train out of Alton on Saturday were treated to a sudden ‘flash mob’ performance on the platform by members of Luminosa.

The choral group performed a selection of music from their forthcoming concert, which takes place next Saturday (May 12) at St John’s Church in Alresford.

The singers’ performance was of Vierne’s electric Sanctus from his Messe Solennelle.

The steam line passengers were among a number of travellers and shoppers entertained to a series of surprise performances by the choir whose flash mobs were met with enthusiastic applause from the impromptu audiences.

One onlooker commented: “It’s so lovely to see a choir clearly so passionate about what they do. To come here and sing for us shoppers in a hurry is a real treat. Their performance made us all stop and take a moment to listen. It was very special.”

Committed to bringing fresh and vibrant performances to its capacity audiences, this friendly yet professional group are delighted to be performing Rutter Requiem, Vierne Messe Solennelle and Durufle Requiem, as well as music by Faure, at their inaugural concert in Alresford.

Richard Pearce, international concert organist, will be performing alongside the choir.

The choir, which is sponsored by BaByliss, has tickets available for the concert at Six West in Alresford and Waterstone’s bookshop in Alton, or by e-mailing [email protected].
