THE countryside and towns of East Hampshire are not likely to see major development over the next 17 years as previously feared, according to district councillors.

Although a new development policy plan includes provision for 8,471 new homes in the district, around 4,000 of these would form part of the new eco-town in Whitehill and Bordon, and 1,736 have already been built.
