ANY octogenarians fancy climbing a 60 feet tree?

The Big Tree Climbing Company will be at Hayfest on Saturday. July 8, in the gardens of the Old Vicarage, the 600-year-old house which sits in the churchyard of St Andrew’s Church in Central Farnham.

There will be a dog show at 3pm, tree climbing for anyone between eight and 80 from 4pm, ferret racing at 5pm, a tug of war at 6pm and music from local young musicians all day, including the Taiko Drummers from Potters Gate School at 5pm and jazz and rock bands playing till dusk.

A Hayfest organiser said: “If that lot has whetted your appetite then come and join us in the beer tent, tea tent, curry tent, ice cream gypsy caravan, on the sweetie stall, bouncy castle and or have your face painted by the headmistress of St Andrew’s Infants School.

“It’s all in aid of the Bishop’s Meadow Trust, which has helped to preserve a wild watermeadow nature reserve along the River Wey, right in the middle of Farnham, with donations big and small from hundreds of local people. Come and learn about the meadow and get involved or just have a pint and climb a tree (but not at the same time)!”
