A MAN has been arrested in connection with the death of a female pedestrian in a suspected hit and run on the A325 opposite Alice Holt Forest.
Officers investigating the fatal collision have arrested a 54 year old from Liss on suspicion of causing death by careless driving, driving a vehicle that failed to stop after a road accident and driving a vehicle involved in a road accident and failing to report that accident. He has been bailed until May 5.
Police were called to the A325 close to the junction with Binsted Road shortly before 5.30pm on Wednesday, February 1, following reports of a collision between a motorbike, a pedestrian and a car, which failed to stop at the scene.
A 43-year-old woman, from Surrey, suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead on her way to hospital.
The A325 was closed for several hours as officers carried out extensive investigations into the circumstances of the collision.
Police also launched an appeal for sightings of the missing car - a dark green Peugeot or Citroen estate/people carrier-style car, with possible front end damage - following the incident.
Sgt Rik Grant, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said on Thursday: “We are following several lines of enquiries to find this vehicle and we would urge anyone who has information about the car or who was diving it to come forward.
“If you think you saw a vehicle matching this description in the area around the time of the incident you may have information that could assist our investigation so please call us.”
