POLICE have arrested a man in connection with a spate of car break-ins in the Farnham and Upper Hale area.

The Herald reported in June that a number of cars had been targeted in north Farnham during a week-long crime spree.

Four vehicles initially had their windows smashed across the area overnight on June 20/21.

A Mini was broken into on Upper Hale Road, at the junction with Vicarage Lane, while a Renault Clio was also targeted in Vicarage Lane. On both occasions thieves found nothing of value worth stealing.

However, a wallet was stolen from the cab of a van in Balmoral Crescent, and in the morning of June 21, reported at around 7.45am, a Renault Megane was broken into on Lawday Link and a handbag taken from the seat.

Another victim posted on Facebook that several items of clothing and a sat nav were stolen from their car, parked on their driveway in Heath Lane, sometime over the weekend of June 17/18.

Surrey Police launched an investigation, and the force has since confirmed a man has been arrested in connection with the break-ins but is yet to be charged with any offences.

“The investigation remains ongoing,” a spokesman for the force told The Herald when asked for details.
