A FARNHAM man has been charged in the first week’s of Surrey Police’s summer crackdown on drink and drug-driving.

In total seven people were charged between June 6 and 12 in connection with Operation Dragonfly, while a further 13 were arrested for drink or drug driving related offences.

This includes Andrei Balan, 27, of Crondall Lane, Farnham, who was stopped in Farnham and charged with drink driving.

He has been released on bail to appear at Guildford Magistrates Court on July 12.

Operation Dragonfly sees officers out on patrol actively looking for driving offences and behaviour behind the wheel that may be due to the driver’s consumption of intoxicating substances.

Surrey Police is proactively releasing the names of those who have been charged across the county as in last year’s initiative.

Officers will also be tweeting about people who have been stopped on suspicion of drink or drug-driving offences, giving brief details of an incident.
