A FARNHAM man has raised more than £1,300 for Save the Rhino International after creating a horn replica on the top of his head.

Musician Bob Holroyd reshaped his hair into the shape of horn at The Bat and Ball pub in Farnham to raise awareness and money for the endangered animal.

On top of this he has remixed one of his more well-known tracks with all proceeds going to the campaign as well.

The proceeds from the track ‘African Drug’ will go to charity Air Shepherd which flies drones over Africa to try and help with the fight against rhino and elephant poaching.

Bob said: “As you may have seen on the news earlier in the year a helicopter pilot was shot dead by poachers after trying to save rhinos and elephants, and many other rangers have lost their lives trying to protect this threatened wildlife.

“These drones will hopefully be more effective and also safer for those on the frontline trying to stop the poaching. Unfortunately poaching is big business and as the rhino population gets smaller their horn gets increasingly more valuable.”

The money raised will go towards practical things such as drones, sniffer dogs (in parks and at airports), veterinary care for orphaned baby rhino and education projects in the two main countries that consume rhino horn, namely Vietnam and China.

Bob added: “So many people have been absolutely amazing in the support they have given me and I am truly grateful.”

He would like to share his sincere thanks to the landlady and landlord of The Bat and Ball, Elizabeth and Matt, for letting him stage the event at their pub, the regulars who have donated so much and supported him along the way, various businesses around Farnham who donated prizes for the raffle, friends and family and all the staff at the pub.

“And to the lovely Lynn for actually shaving my head – thank you very much.” concluded Bob.
