DETECTIVES in Alton have charged a man following an incident in the town involving a 16-year-old girl.

Hanasa Pazi, 27, of Geales Crescent, Alton, has been charged with sexual assault. He has been released on bail to appear at Aldershot Magistrates Court on April 4.

The charge is related to an incident between 10am and 10.30am last Thursday when a 16-year old girl was walking along Victoria Road in Alton and was approached by a man.

He asked what her name was and how old she was. The girl didn't stop but the man grabbed her by the arm. He made further comments before a woman intervened and told the man to leave the girl alone. He walked off along Victoria Road.

Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident.
