POLICE are investigating the serious assault of a 13-year-old girl, who was attacked by a man in Heath Road, Petersfield.
The girl was on her way home from a function around 11 pm on Saturday, February 2, when the man, believed to be aged between 40 and 50, jumped out of a bush and dragged her into a driveway where the assault took place.
The girl managed to escape and ran out of the drive, heading for the town centre.
On her way she came across a couple in their 20s, who asked the girl if there was anything wrong. She told the couple she was OK and ran off.
Police would like to talk to the couple, who were walking along Heath Road near the lake, as soon as possible and gather any information they can about the incident.
The man has been described as white, aged between 40 and 50, and 6ft.
He is said to have short receding hair, a northern accent and a distinctive mole on one cheek.
He was wearing a gold loop earing in one ear, a waxed jacket, baggy tracksuit bottoms and Nike trainers.
