A man from Kent has appeared before a Surrey court after being caught stealing from an antiques shop in Farnham nearly a year ago.

William Eastwood stole an antique carvery set worth £90 from Bourne Mill Antiques on January 26, last year.

The 57-year-old from Park Wood Lane, Staplehurst, admitted to a count of theft when he appeared at Staines Magistrates Court on Thursday, January 15.

The defendant was fined £40 and ordered to pay £90 in compensation to the business on Guildford Road by the bench.

He must also pay a £16 surcharge with no order for costs being requested by the court and a collection order being made. The defendant’s guilty plea was taken into consideration.
