FOR a marathon runner who confesses that he "hates running" a Petersfield man sure knows how to put himself through the mill.

Nigel Wells, 73, best known in town for his work for the Petersfield Festival for Young people, which provided young people in the town with a skate board facility, is running the London Marathon for charity next month.

"I hate running but it is a means of helping youngsters and it keeps me fit..." said Mr Wells.

Hoping to raise in excess of £3,000 Mr Wells is running for the charity Plan UK, which has a programme to help street children in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
